Perfume Brand - Initial Ideas

For this module, the main project work is to develop a perfume brand. We have already been organised into teams of around four, and quite literally have to research and develop innovative ideas to create a new and unique perfume to (hypothetically) launch on the present day fragrance market.
So far, in regards to the FCP process, we have looked at the context stage and are now moving to 'The Big Idea'. For our group, we took on board what guest lecturer, Michelle Hoines-White, had said to us - you need to be creating something that responds to consumer needs and your own needs.
For us, this response meant we were thinking about the need of longevity of the scent and also perhaps the desire to create a two bottled scent; as many of us wear two different perfumes (for day and night) as many preferred scents are often too strong and overpowering to wear of the day.
In regards to the macro trends, we were thinking about incorporating the possibility of technology (perhaps through the way in which it is marketed i.e social media), music (this could be in regards to the bottle design or be linked to a specific musician ambassador), health and wellbeing (using natural, pure ingredients as the desire to be fit and healthy is becoming an aspirational mainstream desire).
This is definitely going to be an exciting process and I cannot wait to see what the results when we collaborate with graphic design will be like! This certainly is something I have never done before and will certainly be an commoving experience... watch this space!!
