Charli XCX - Famous

Charli XCX is the new British pop-sensation; to be anymore cliche. Even though now she may be known for having released chart-topping singles with the likes of Rita Ora and Iggy Azealia, Charli was actually first talent spotted in her early teenage years when she was performing at raves and warehouses, singing outlandish songs about dinosaurs having sex.

Yet this pop singer is bringing a new wave to this genre; intelligent prolific songwriting of which brings sentience to current day concerns. As shown in her newly released single titled 'Famous', which satirically portrays the way in which everyone has become so obsessed and constantly affixed to their smart phones, tablets or what not. We are almost subconsciously adhering to this addiction of social media, and the idea of actually being 'famous', which nowadays can so easily be attainted purely through obtaining a good amount of 'likes' on well-chosen-instagram-filtered selfies. Many are becoming more concerned about the portrayal of themselves online, rather than in real life.
This music video almost makes you think twice about constantly checking your social media updates every five minutes to have a quick browse, and instead actually live in the actual world and enjoy each moment. Plus, it's pretty catchy and has her consistently stick-in-your-head-all-day chorus's.
