The iconic fashion designer, Oscar De la Renta, died this Monday aged 82 due to complications of cancer. Though many will remember him through the high society women that he dressed, such as: Jackie O and Hilary Clinton; it was his motif and message for creating such elegant and magnificent garments that should truly be commemorated. He believed in beauty, not for beauty's sake, but because he understood that elevating the outside, could help elevate the inside; that confidence could be donned with the help of a garment.
His career, which spanned over 50 years, showed his values of believing in the long-run and garments that were created upon the construction of values to commitment. Even during his collections just last month, when he was visibly frail, he still appeared in suit and tie; proving positive of the power of dressing for the occasion. Needless to say, De La Renta is one of the rare few male fashion designers who would still wear a traditional suit and tie to work.
